Domaine Berthelemot, Monthelie Pierrefittes, 2019
This fabulous 2019 Monthelie Pierrefittes from Domaine Berthelemot is drawn from three plots over two sectors, with the denser flavours of the older Pierrefittes sector slightly dominating this otherwise harmonious blend.
Located between Volnay and Meursault, the small village of Monthélie produces an incredibly robust wine that shows an intriguing combination of black and red berries, violets, minerality and a beautifully textured palate.
This 2019 is lovely and warm, has superb wild ripe fruits and is very generous on the palate. There is a perfect balanced of violets, vegetal notes that interlace nicely with a lovely perfumed finish.
This is not a lean, delicate Burgundy. It is slightly bigger expression, one that is more robust, and the satisfying, gentle tannins make for a wonderful drinking experience
